Meet the Director

 I’m Valerie Montaño and I am the very proud founder and director of one of Denver’s newest vocal ensembles, The Denver Chorale. This ensemble is the realization of a dream I’ve held for a several years, and I invite you to share our joy in making beautiful music together!

The dream began in the fall of 2008, while enjoying my time as assistant director of the Evergreen Chorale. I found myself wondering why there wasn’t a small choral ensemble in the Denver area, a community of talented singers who come together to share the joy of singing and creating beautiful music. Not being at all business oriented, a friendly retired lawyer and a judge helped me to incorporate the Denver Chorale as a nonprofit organization.

By Christmas that year I was recruiting singers by posting fliers on and around the DU campus, postings on Craigslist and in the Jeffco Messenger, in music stores, bookstores, barbershops and restaurants. Surprisingly, my most recent success in getting the word out has been talking with people and putting up fliers in karaoke bars!

The response has been phenomenal and I’m constantly amazed and thrilled with the quality and talent of the people who have joined the Chorale. They are literally my dream come true and the Denver Chorale could not have turned out better!
